BSA Removal and Installation
To remove BSA:
1. Make sure Segway PT is powered off and
unplugged.
2. Establish a serviceable power base
(page 7‐1).
3. Remove pivot base assembly (page 9‐14).
4. Remove chassis cover (page 10‐3).
Disconnect (2) balance sensor assembly (BSA)
harnesses from CU board sockets by squeezing
plastic tab on connector and gently pulling
connector.
5. Remove cables from BSA cable router.
6. Remove plastic BSA cable router (20532‐
00001). (See Figure 12‐1 for a close‐up view.)

7. Use T‐10 6‐lobe wrench to remove (4) pan‐
head, M3

attach balance sensor assembly to chassis.
DISCARD FASTENERS AFTER REMOVAL! DO NOT
REUSE!
8. Lift balance sensor assembly from chassis.
Avoid touching circuit board located on
bottom of balance sensor assembly.

9. If you are reusing this balance sensor
assembly, place on appropriate anti‐static
surface or ESD bag.

Harnesses from CU Boards
To install BSA:
1. Make sure Segway PT is powered off and
unplugged.
2. Take new BSA from static bag and place
BSA cable router on top. Place newly
assembled BSA in chassis. Route cables into
cable router. See Figure 12‐1.
3. Thread (4) pan‐head, M3
tapping screws (20972‐00001) through
balance sensor assembly mounting tabs and
into chassis. See Figure 12‐2.
For installation, use only Segway approved
fasteners.
4. Using T‐10 6‐lobe wrench, drive each screw
(20972‐00001) and torque to 1.6 N‐m.
5. Insert and seat (2) balance sensor assembly
harnesses into A and B headers on CU
board. See Figure 12‐2.
