Motor Installation
To install motor:
1. Make sure Segway PT is powered off and
unplugged.
2. Clean motor well.
3. Completely remove thread lock compound
from motor fastener holes. Use cotton swabs
to thoroughly clean excess thread lock
compound from internal threads. First use
window cleaner, then isopropyl alcohol, to
remove thread lock compound.
4. Slide motor into chassis. It will fit only one
way. Fit is snug.
Make sure motor harness does not block motor
as it is inserted into chassis. Motor will not seat
properly if connector is pinched between motor
and BSA.
5. Thread (2) SHCS, M5
screws (20536‐00001) through motor
mounting tabs into chassis. See Figure 13‐4.
Use of new motor fasteners with new thread lock
compound is required for proper installation
6. Using T‐25 6‐lobe wrench, drive each screw
and torque to 5.0 N‐m.
7. Connect (2) CU motor harnesses to motor.
See Figure 13‐5.
Rotate each harness as you insert connector so
that smaller gauge wires are beneath larger
gauge wires.

8. Locate abrasion protection sleeves and
position so wires are protected as they pass
through notches in chassis.
Make sure cables are seated in notches in
chassis so that they cannot be pinched when
cover is installed.
9. Perform post‐service tests (page A‐1).
