Gearbox Installation
To install gearbox:
1. Make sure Segway PT is powered off and
unplugged.
2. Inspect motor coupling and elastomer
bushing. Replace elastomer bushing if it is
worn out. See page 13‐5.
3. If RTV silicone sealant is present on chassis,
use razor blade or utility knife blade (set at
90‐degree angle to the chassis surface) to
carefully and gently scrape away all RTV
sealant residue from chassis mating surface.
Do not scratch machined surface. Always
work in downward direction to prevent
contaminants from falling into motor cavity.

4. Completely remove thread lock compound
from gearbox fastener holes. Use cotton
swabs to thoroughly clean excess thread
lock compound from internal threads. First
use window cleaner, then isopropyl alcohol,
to remove thread lock compound. See
Figure 8‐4.
