EMI Shield Removal and Installation
It is necessary to remove the electromagnetic
interference (EMI) shield to gain access to the
diagnostic interface connectors on the console
radio board. When replacing the user interface
console (UIC), the replacement UIC will include
the EMI shield. There should be no reason to
replace the EMI shield alone.
To remove EMI shield:
1. Make sure Segway PT is powered off and
unplugged.
2. Remove console cover (page 9‐4).
3. Remove the radio's antenna by lifting up
while twisting gently until it unseats from
the radio board.
4. Depending upon revision, use a 2mm or
2.5mm wrench to remove the four (4) M3 x 6
button head cap screws holding the
electromagnetic interference (EMI) shield to
the UIC. See Figure 9‐6.

DISCARD FASTENERS AFTER REMOVAL! DO NOT

5. Carefully lift the EMI cover up and away
from the radio board assembly.
6. When instructed by Diagnostics manual,
connect diagnostic equipment to Service
Header A and Service Header B connectors
on console radio. See Figure 9‐7.

To install EMI shield:
1. Make sure Segway PT is powered off and
unplugged.
2. Disconnect diagnostic equipment.
3. Seat EMI shield on UIC. Thread (4) cap
screws (20203‐00002) through holes in EMI
shield to pivot base. Using 2.5mm 6‐lobe
wrench, drive each screw and torque to 2.6
N‐m. See Figure 9‐6.
4. Perform post‐service tests (page A‐1).
