5. Inspect the UIC housing assembly for
damage. Housings with brass inserts that
have stripped loose during disassembly
must be replaced; the integrity of these brass
inserts is critical to obtaining a correct
environmental seal between the housing
and the cover.
To install console cover:
1. Make sure Segway PT is powered off and
unplugged.
2. To prevent gasket from falling out when
cover is tipped during installation, apply
even bead of Loctite 127864XB RTV sealant
only into gasket channel in cover, using a 20‐
gauge (0.32in. / 0.8mm) tip. Lay gasket into
RTV bead and press lightly to seat.

3. Install a 14‐gauge (0.64in. / 1.6mm) tip on
RTV tube and lay a smooth, continuous
bead of sealant over entire top of gasket,
leaving no gaps over entire perimeter. See
Figure 9‐5.

Segway® Personal Transporter i2, x2, x2 Turf Parts Replacement Guide
RTV silicone sealant is necessary to ensure
water-tight seal between console housing and
cover. Improper installation of sealant or cover
could result in damage to electronics inside unit.
RTV sealant must cure for at least 24 hours prior
to exposure to a wet environment.
5. Perform post‐service tests (page A‐1).
