EMI Filter Removal and Installation

When to Replace

Replace the electromagnetic interference (EMI) 
filter when directed to do so by the Segway PT i2, 
x2 Diagnostics Guide, or as advised by a Segway 
Service Representative.
To remove EMI filter:
1. Make sure Segway PT is powered off and 
unplugged.
2. Remove console cover and set aside 
(page 9‐4).
3. Lift off UIC and place in ESD bag or on clean 
ESD work surface (page 9‐9).
4. Disconnect (2) steering sensor harness 
connectors at top of EMI filter. Keep 
retention putty for reuse during installation. 
While pressing connector locking tabs, 
gently remove connectors to disconnect. Do 
not strain harnesses. See Figure 9‐13.

If connector locking tab breaks off or if insulation
is damaged or pinched, replacement of the
steering sensor is required.
5. Use T‐30 6‐lobe wrench to remove (1) center 
screw that anchors pivot base assembly to 
9‐12
chassis and secures EMI filter to bottom of 
console housing. See Figure 9‐14.
