MAINTENANCE
Install and tighten
the
bolts to the specified
torque.
Coat a new
D-ring
with engine oil and install it onto
the timing hole cap.
Install the timing hole cap and tighten it
to the
spec-
ified
torque.

Install the fuel tank

Install the
recoil
starter cover (page 2-4).
ENGINE OIL

lEVEL CHECK
•
Check the oil level after starting the engine and
allowing the oil to circulate through the engine
thoroughly. It is especially important on a dry
sump engine, due to the comparatively large vol-
ume of oil.
•
Do not snap the
throttle
while idling or the oil
level reading will be inaccurate.
•
Before checking the
oil
level,
remove
the dipstick
and wipe it clean,
insert
the dipstick without
screwing it in,
then
remove the dipstick and
check the oil
level
at the tip
mark.
Place
the vehicle on a level ground.
Start the engine and let it idle for 5 minutes.
If the ai

temperature
is
below

Let the engine idle for an additional 5 minutes (a
total of

minutes).
Stop the engine
and
wait 2·3 minutes.
Remove the dipstick and wipe it
clean.
Check the oil level by
inserting the
dipstick into the
oil tank without screwing it in.
