ELECTRONIC BRAKE SYSTEM EBS

Vehicle is equipped with electronic brake system
(EBS), comprising the following functions:
- control of service and auxiliary brake systems
(Brake-Management);
- anti-lock braking system (ABS);
- anti-skid system (ASR);
- electronic stability programme (ESP).
Vehicle brake control is carried out via two pneu-
matic and one electronic circuits. In case of brake elec-
tronic control failure the management is carried out via
two pneumatic circuits. In such a case the brake system
EBS operates as a standard pneumatic system.
Attention!
If brake system failure occurs the pilot lamp of
electronic control system EBS/ ABS failure comes on.
Trouble shooting of electronic brake system see in
Section 7 «Potential failures of vehicle units and systems.
Self-help».
After failure elimination the pilot lamp of truck
tractor EBS/ ABS dies out at motion start when the vehi-
cle achieves the speed 5-7 km/h.
Similarly the lamp of trailer EBS/ABS goes out if
the vehicle is connected with the trailer, equipped with
electronic brake system.
Control of service and auxiliary brake systems with
the aid of brake pedal («Brake-Management»)
Function of Brake-Management - control of ser-
vice and auxiliary brake systems by means of brake pedal.
When pedal is depressed (under condition that
auxiliary brake switch is released) braking by means of
auxiliary systems happens, further if slowing-down is not
enough braking is carried out by service brake system.

Antilock brake system

Main purpose of the system is automatic support of
optimum truck brake application without wheels locking
(skidding) irrespective of the type of road where brakes
are applied - greasy or dry.
