INTERWHEEL DIFFERENTIAL LOCK

Differential is to be locked when there is a differ-
ence in values of wheel adhesive forces between which it
is set.
The lock is to be engaged directly before overcom-
ing of hard track sections (sticky ground, hindrances,
slippery dirty road).
Attention!
Lock engagement and disengagement are to be
done with the coupling disengaged and only after full
vehicle stop.
For vehicles equipped with automatic gearbox
the lock engagement and disengagement are to be car-
ried out only when the vehicle is stopped and with «Neu-
tral» position chosen in the gearbox.
At the moment of one of the wheels skidding the
lock engagement is forbidden. In this case lock engage-
ment is to be done only after vehicle stop.
With differential locked it is necessary to move
linearly
, with speed not exceeding 10 km/h, without
stops, preventing the wheel skidding.
The lock should be disengaged immediately after
reaching the hard dry road, as a motion with the lock
engaged can cause failure of the main gear parts.
Movement on a hard road with the lock engaged
is strongly prohibited!
Interwheel differential lock control is electro-
pneumatic and is fulfilled by the shifter located on the in-
strument panel (see Fig. Switch of interwheel differential
lock).
