BRAKE SYSTEM

Service brake system is intended to reduce the
vehicle traveling speed and to bring it to total halt; it is
controlled by the brake pedal.
An emergency brake system is designed to pro-
vide the brake application in case the service brake sys-
tem partially gets out of order. Functions of emergency
brake system are fulfilled by service brake system cir-
cuits. In case of front service brakes failure, braking is
executed by rear service brakes, and vice versa.
Parking brake system is designed to prevent
spontaneous rolling away of stationary vehicle.
Handle of parking brake system control valve has
two fixed positions:
- in the upper position 1 the parking brake is dis-
engaged (position «Movement»);
- in the lower position 2 the parking brake is en-
gaged (position «Stop»).
With the parking brake system engagement the pi-
lot lamp comes ON
.

In intermediate positions the truck tractor and sem-
itrailer slowing down is fulfilled.
At shifting the valve handle further than the lower
fixed position 2, against stop, the semitrailer brake releas-
ing takes place; at the same time keep the vehicle parking
brake system engaged. This allows to control the possibil-
ity of the road-train managing on the slope only by means
of vehicle parking brake system. To shift further than the
lower fixed position it is necessary to sink the parking
brake control valve handle in.
