7 VEHICLE MECHANISMS AND SYSTEMS
TROUBLESHOOTING. SELF-HELP
Be sure to eliminate all faults in proper time to
avoid worsening of ecological and operation parameters
of vehicle (such as: fuel consumption increase, engine
power decrease, increased emission of pollutions) and
provide save operation of vehicle.
Monitor the state of all vehicle systems using in-
struments and display messages.
With ignition key rotated to the first fixed posi-
tion, all pilot lamps and indicators on instrument panel
come ON for 2-3 seconds.
If lamps stay ON or lighten during vehicle driv-
ing, it is a proof of fault (see subsection Indication and
fault elimination). The pilot lamps go out after the fault
has been eliminated.
After a fault has been eliminated, the tractor ABS
lamp goes out at the beginning of motion, when truck
reaches the speed of 5-7 km/h.
If any critical faults, STOP pilot lamp comes ON
in addition to message. At that moment the buzzer
sounds.
If the hazard signal system or direction indicators
are ON, the sound signals are not emitted.
If necessary, perform diagnostics of vehicle sys-
tems. The diagnostic mode helps to control the operation
of vehicle electronic systems and generation of fault
codes.
For code cracking and failure elimination, please
contact the Service center.
The repair of Daimler components as well as
cracking of fault codes in Mersedes-Benz engines should
be performed in Mercedes-Benz service centers or in the
authorized (to perform maintenance of Daimler compo-
nents) KAMAZ PTC service centers.
Attention!
During repair and troubleshooting, be sure to
stop the engine and disconnect power supply. System
power is de-energized with starter-and-instruments key
rotated to position «0».
Possible faults of vehicle units and systems, meth-
ods of their elimination are described in Construction,
maintenance and repair manual for КАМАZ 5490 vehi-
cle.
