STARTING THE ENGINE FROM THE BATTERY OF ANOTH-
ER VEHICLE
1. Place the vehicle with charged storage battery
next to the vehicle with discharged storage battery, pre-
venting their contact with each other.
2. Apply parking brakes of both vehicles.
3. Check if gearshift levers in both vehicles are in
neutral.
4. Switch off the engine of the vehicle with
charged storage batteries.
5. Connect positive, then, negative poles of batter-
ies using starting cables:
- connect the cable plus clip to «plus» terminal of
the discharged storage battery. Connect the second clip
of plus cable to «plus» terminal of the charged storage
battery;
- connect the clip of minus connection cable to
«minus» terminal of charged storage battery. Connect the
second minus clip of cable to «minus» terminal of the
discharged storage battery.
Avoid contact of positive clips of positive and
negative connection cables.
6. On the vehicle with discharged batteries - turn
the ignition switch key to the position «O - everything is
off».
7. In vehicle with charged storage batteries, start
the engine and let it run for 10-15 minutes with speed
higher than rpm at idle to charge storage battery.
8. In vehicle with charged storage battery, shut
down engine to prevent failure of electric and electron-
ic items.
Rotate the ignition switch key to position «0 - all
is OFF».
9. In vehicle with charged storage battery, start
the engine and let it run until the idle speed is stable.
10. Disconnect the starting cables. First, discon-
nect negative, then, positive poles.
Attention!
Observe the polarity of electric supply wires
connected to storage batteries:
- positive pole terminal should be connected to
positive pole of charge current source,
- negative pole terminal should be connected to
negative pole of charge current source.
WRONG CONNECTION OF WIRES CAUSES FAIL-
URE OF ALTERNATOR AND ENGINE CONTROL UNIT!
