Open the lens cover
Still image shooting screen
During standby for shooting, the following
operations are enabled:
a :Switches the compact light on (
(no icon) (only when shooting with the
out-camera).
(:Switches the screen between the full
mode/standard mode
When the full mode is set, the icons
and guide row disappear at the bottom
of the screen.
Disabled when the camera is started
from the phonebook, mail or i-
t :Switches the in-camera/out-camera.
t(for over a second): Switches to Movie
Point the camera at the object and o or

The orange focus frame is displayed on the
center of the screen and the focus is adjusted.
When the camera is brought into focus, the focus
frame changes to a green +. The shutter sound is
heard and a still image is shot before the image
confirmation screen appears.
Focus frame
When shooting with the in-camera, a still image
is shot without displaying the focus frame.
If you turn the compact light on, light intensity
increases at the moment the shutter is released.
If Auto save of Still Image Setting is set to Yes,
the shot still image is saved and the shooting
screen reappears. Operations from Step 3 are
not required.
Camera is activated.

Shooting by focusing to other than the
center of the screen (Shooting with focus
lock):
a Set the object which you want to focus
in the center of the screen
The orange focus frame is displayed.
When the camera is brought into focus, the
confirmation sound sounds and the focus
frame changes to a green +.
To release focus lock: c
The confirmation sound is not issued in
Silent Mode.
b Point the camera at the position where
you want to shot
A still image is shot.
You can also use C for focus-lock
shooting. Set the object in the center of
the screen, press C by half, and bring
the camera into focus. Point the camera
at the position where you want to shoot
with C half-pressed. Then fully press
C until you hear the shutter sound.
If you release your finger from half-
pressed C, the focus lock is
released.
Shooting without auto focus
The image is shot by fixed focus. This allows
you to shoot the object quickly when you want
to make sure you do not miss a shot.

Auto focus is turned off.
Pressing the key again returns auto focus

A still image is shot.
Even when auto focus is turned off,
pressing C enables auto focus
shooting.

View and confirm the still image
To save the still image immediately: Go to Step 4
To retake another image without saving the
shot image: c
To enlarge the still image with the display size of
176 x 144 (QCIF) or smaller and check it: u
Press d to return to the original size.
To display the still image with the display size
of 640 x 480 (H-VGA) or more at the same size
and check it: t
O to scroll.Press c to return to the
original size.
