3.1 Types of Slaves and Configurations

3.1.1 Types of Slaves

There are two types of slaves: HMG type and HUG type slaves.
The HMG type slave is based on an HMG base slave and is used to connect the master board (such as a
PC or single-board computer) mounted on the controller and a slave, or connect the second and
succeeding slaves.
The HUG type slave is based on an HUG base slave and is used to connect the first slave using the USB
on the PC. The second and succeeding slaves are connected using the HMG type slave.

3.1.2 Base Slaves

Both HMG type slave and HUG type slave are configured by stacking up to six modules onto the base
slave. The type of slave is determined by the used base slave.
The one using HM-GN00G as communication module is called "HMG base slave" while that using
HM-GU00G is called "HUG base slave". The communication module of HMG base slave is provided with
functions to relay Motionnet communication data between each module within the own slave and master
board, or between slaves.
On the other hand, the communication module of HUG base slave is provided with functions to convert the
USB communication data into Motionnet protocol and transfer it to each module within the own slave and
other slaves. Or conversely, it converts the data from modules and other slaves into USB protocol.
