Use the following table to analyze and troubleshoot BID problems.

Symptoms and solutions
No image at leading or trailing edge:
Perform a BID Engage Calibration
wizard.
No image at the front or rear side:
Check the ink coupling bellows tension.
Check BID engage force (spring can be
clogged or need readjustment).
Call customer engineer to check BID
engage system arms.
Call customer engineer to check rear
engage wall wiring and adjustment.
Large drops all over sheet:
Verify that the ink outlet bellows is not
twisted.
Use the Ink Flow wizard to check the ink
flow rate.
Check that the ink catch tray is
assembled.
Run the BID diagnostic wizard and verify
that the BID motor is rotating.
Cracks or cuts on the developer roller:
Most mechanical defects are caused by
improper BID handling, especially when
inserting and removing the BID.
BID roller grinding (occurs when the BID is
engaging the PIP when it should not):
Call customer engineer to check the BID
supporting system function.
If the BID is not engaging the PIP when
the unit is not in the print mode, call
customer engineer.
Run a BID diagnostic and verify that the
BID motor is rotating.
Replace the BID.
