Press long-term shutdown maintenance

Remove the BID units from the press to avoid BID deterioration when the BIDs are not in
use. Clean the developer and squeegee rollers. Perform the following procedure on all
BID units. A long-term shutdown is defined as more than four days.
WARNING!
Electrical and mechanical hazard: Before performing this steps, press an Emergency Stop
button.

Dismantle the BID unit. See 'Removing the BID unit' on page 222.
Place the BID unit on the BID stand.
Use a 3-mm Allen key to rotate the BID developer roller. Rotate the roller clockwise as
viewed from the front of the BID unit.
Insert an Allen key here and
turn clockwise
If a BID washer is available, use it to clean BID units before a long-term shutdown. If a
BID washer is not available, use a lint-free wipe soaked in imaging oil to wipe the
surfaces of the developer roller and the squeegee roller. Keep rotating the rollers until
the roller surfaces are clean.
Reinstall the BID unit.
