Maintaining the scorotron

Note Perform the following maintenance once per month.

WARNING! IPA should be used to clean specified parts only. Cleaning may be carried out only when the
printing engine is idle. It is essential that all parts be completely dry before you reinstall them in
the machine and resume printing.

WARNING! Ensure that all tools and materials are removed from the unit and that all the doors are closed
before operating the machine.

A periodic check of the corona_# HVPS current failed
Try printing again. If happens again, call service
A periodic check of the grid_# HVPS current failed
Try printing again. If happens again, call service
Check that the scorotron unit is inserted all the way.
Check corona wire integrity.
Check corona wire threading.
Remove the scorotron assembly from the machine.
Remove the grids from the scorotron.
Using a cotton swab and IPA, clean the unit, grids, and inside shield.
Pay special attention to the cleaning of parts 4, 5, 6, and 7 in Figure 15-5.
Test the damper (part 4 in Figure 15-7) for elasticity. It should rise a few millimeters
when the tension on the corona wire is released.
Use imaging oil to clean the riding wheels and riding path on the PIP drum.
Inspect the riding wheels for smooth motion. If the wheels appear to be
malfunctioning, call your customer engineer.
Reassemble the scorotron unit and reinstall it in the machine.
