We recommend that you consider the availability of services on the network. Using the
Gatekeeper configuration screens, you can restrict the use of certain services to particular
users while leaving other services accessible to all; see " Specifying the Allowed Services"
in Chapter 6, "Advanced Gatekeeper Configuration." You can also assign services to
particular WAN ports. This can be useful to ensure free channels for expected calls.
Choosing a Gatekeeper
The Gateway operates in conjunction with an H.323 gatekeeper. You must decide which
gatekeeper will be administering the system and where it will be located. H.323 gatekeepers
may differ in capabilities and performance. The L2W-323 Gateway's internal Gatekeeper
supports up to 25 simultaneous calls and 150 endpoint registrations.
If you work with an internal RADVision Gatekeeper or the NT-based NGK-100, you will
benefit from value-added functions as well as seamless operation with the Gateway. For
more information on the RADVision NGK-100 Gatekeeper please contact your distributor.
Prerequisites Check-list
Make sure you have considered the following items before you begin the configuration:
!" Prepare a designated IP address to assign to the Gateway.
!" Make sure you know the Gateway configuration access password.
!" Decide which services you want to define for the system.
!" Decide which gatekeeper will be administering the system and where the gatekeeper
will be located.

Setting Up the Configuration Station

In order to configure the Gateway, you have to install the OnLAN Configure 323
configuration software on an appropriate configuration station.
Configuration Station Requirements
The configuration station must:
!" Have Windows 95/NT/98 installed.
!" Reside on the same LAN segment as the L2W-323 Gateway unit you want to
configure.
!" Have an IP address that matches the IP address of the network segment to which it is
connected.
