will be rejected. This parameter is accessed from the Predefined Properties screen in the
Zone Definition Table when you add or edit an existing endpoint.
Default Distance – This is the equivalent of the Max. Distance parameter for online
endpoints that do not have predefined properties.
Multicast Distance – This is a logical distance determining how far outside the zone the
Gatekeeper can route a call using multicast. The Gateway does not support multicast.

To set distance limitations for a zone
1. From the Configuration Source screen select the Gatekeeper Setup option.
2. From the Application Parameters option screen select Neighbor Gatekeepers. The
Neighbor Gatekeepers Table is displayed.
3. Click Add to define a new neighbor Gatekeeper, or click Edit to edit one already
defined. The Neighbor GK Parameters screen is displayed. See "Adding a New
Neighbor Gatekeeper," page 6-23.
4. In the Neighbor Distance field enter any number between 0-255, for example 50.
Click OK to confirm.
5. From the Application Parameters option screen select Zone Definition. The Zone
Definition Table is displayed.
6. Click Add to define a new endpoint, or click Edit to edit one already defined. The
Predefined Properties screen is displayed. If the endpoint is online and you want to set
predefined properties for it, from the Online Properties screen that is displayed click
Make Predefined to access the Predefined Properties screen. See "Adding a New
Endpoint," page 6-12.
7. In the Max.Distance field enter a number between 0-255. The number you enter will
depend on whether you want to allow this endpoint to make call requests to the zone
for which you defined a distance of 50 or not. If you want to allow it to make calls to
that zone, set it to 50 or above. If you do not want to allow it to call that zone, set it to
a number below 50, for example 30. Click OK to confirm. Repeat steps 7 and 8 for all
the predefined endpoints and online endpoints with predefined properties.
8. From the Application Parameters option screen select Network Control. The Network
Control screen is displayed.
9. Click Advanced Settings. The Advanced Settings screen is displayed. See
"Miscellaneous Parameters," page 6-31.
10. In the Default Distance field enter a number between 0-255. This number depends on
which zones you want to allow dynamically registered endpoints to make call requests
to. For example, if you set it to 50, all dynamically registered endpoints can make calls
to the zone for which you defined at a distance of 50.
11. Enter a number between 0-255 for the Multicast Distance, if necessary. Click OK to
confirm.
