WAN Connections

The L2W-323 Gateway contains up to two modules (total) of the following types:
!" BRI ISDN
!" V.35 DCE
!" V.35 DTE
Each module contains two ports. The type of WAN connections provided depend on the
WAN modules you ordered.
WAN ISDN Connection Options
An ISDN BRI dual-port module provides two BRI connections. Each BRI connection has
two B channels used to transmit voice, video and data and one D channel used for
signaling. Each module supports up to four simultaneous voice calls, four simultaneous 64
Kbps video and data calls or two 2B video and data calls. In addition, video calls can be
bonded at 128, 256 or 384 Kbps; 128 and 256 Kbps bonded calls require one ISDN BRI
module while 384 Kbps bonded calls require two modules.
The L2W-323 Gateway ISDN BRI module has an S/T interface. If the ISDN line supplied
by your Central Office has a U interface (in the United States), an NT1 is required to
terminate the ISDN line and convert it to an S/T interface for the L2W-323 Gateway.
The ISDN BRI module connects directly to a wall socket, PBX or NT1 if required.
WAN V.35 DTE/DCE Connections
The V.35 DTE and V.35 DCE dual-port modules provide two V.35 DTE connections or two
V.35 DCE connections. Each module provides up to two high-quality video and data calls
of 768 Kbps.
The V.35 module provides the Gateway with two V.35 ports, each with the capacity to
handle high bandwidth connections of up to 768 Kbps. When a 2B call takes place both
V.35 ports are used and each bearer channel is routed over a separate cable. No other calls
can take place at the same time through these ports.
You can connect the Gateway V.35 DTE ports to IMUXs, switch modems or to other
terminal adapters that in turn connect to the ISDN network.
You can connect the Gateway V.35 DCE ports directly to an H.320 terminal, for example a
Room System or an MCU.
