Dialing In to the LAN through the Gateway

The Gateway is responsible for routing incoming calls to the requested H.323 endpoints on
the LAN.
The Gateway supports four different incoming call routing methods in the following order
of priority: MSN, TCS4, IVR and Default Extension. For more information, see "Incoming
Call Routing" in Chapter 2, "Overview."
You can also allow single phone number access to a group of LAN terminals. This is
achieved by defining several terminals as service providers of a particular service.
Network Administrator Actions
!" Enable Incoming Call Routing Methods – the incoming call routing methods have to
be enabled for the Gateway WAN port. Any number of routing methods can be
enabled or disabled for this port, but at least one must be enabled for incoming calls to
be routed via this port. For information on enabling routing methods, see "Setting
WAN Call Routing Parameters" in Chapter 5, "Basic Configuration."
!" Define a Default Extension and an IVR Operator – decide which LAN endpoint is to
function as an IVR operator and which as a Default Extension. Configure the Gateway
accordingly. For information on defining an IVR Operator and a Default Extension,
see "Setting Miscellaneous Parameters" and "Setting WAN Call Routing Parameters"
and in Chapter 5, "Basic Configuration."
!" Assign Services to Terminals – the Gateway also allows single phone number access to
a group of LAN terminals. You can achieve this by defining a group of terminals as
service providers, and direct incoming calls requesting this service to the first available
terminal in the group. To define a terminal as a service provider you have to define the
service in the Gatekeeper and then define the service for the terminal as an additional
phone number. For example, you can define a service 98 for all endpoints in your
technical support department. For information, refer to "Single Number Access to a
Group of Terminals" in Chapter 6, "Advanced Gatekeeper Configuration."
User Actions
!" The user dials from a phone or terminal on the WAN.
