Installing the L2W-323 Gateway
!" The air vents at the sides of the Gateway are not blocked. Leave a space of at least ten
cm (4-inch) behind the Gateway's rear panel for proper ventilation.
!" No objects are placed on top of the Gateway.
!" You have a Windows 95/98 or NT-based station running TCP/IP available on which to
install the configuration software and other utilities.
!" A crossover Ethernet cable to connect the PC running the configuration software
directly to the L2W-323 Gateway. This is recommended for assigning an IP address to
a new L2W-323 Gateway, before you connect it to the network.

Installing the WAN Modules

The L2W-323 Gateway can have up to two of the following plug-in WAN modules:
WAN Module
MW-BRI-2-EC
V.35 DTE
V.35 DCE
If the WAN modules are already installed, proceed to "Mounting the Gateway in a 19-inch
Rack," page 3-4.
Before you install the modules, verify that the revision number for the module is as follows:
!" MW-BRI-2-EC Rev A or later
!" V.35 DTE
!" V.35 DCE
The revision number is located on top of the module on the gray connector next to "P/N."

Enables you to make videoconference and voice calls
via the Gateway over the WAN using BRI ISDN services
and supports Line Echo Cancellation for Voice Calls.
Enables you to videoconference via the Gateway over
the WAN at high bandwidths (64 Kbps and above), and
to connect to ISDN or non-ISDN networks through
access equipment.
Enables you to videoconference via the Gateway over
the WAN at high bandwidths (64 Kbps and above) and
to connect to endpoints that are defined as DTE (for
example, terminals).
