Step Checks
1 Is there a lump of toner in the
middle of a spot?
2 Is the problem noted in all colors?
3 Is the problem noted at the same
position on all copies made in
continuous mode, but at different
positions on copies made at
intervals?
4 Is the fault noted at the same
position?
5 Is the problem noted at intervals of
about 180 mm?
6 Identify the lump as to whether it is
of developer or waste toner by
color.
• if gray (mixed color), it is of
waste toner.
• if Y, M, C, or Bk, it is of
developer.
Is the lump made of waste toner?

YES Go to step 5.
NO Check the developing
assembly and the
developing cylinder for
which the problem is
noted; if a fault is found,
replace it.
YES Check the
photosensitive drum for
scratches; if a fault is
found, replace it.
YES Check the transfer drum
sheet for scratches and
deformation; if a fault is
found, replace it.
(After replacement,
execute the work undef
II.C. 2.)
YES Check the fixing roller
for scratches and
deformation.
YES Check the seal at the end
of the cleaning blade of
the photosensitive drum.
Check the end of the
cylinder of the
developing assembly for
soiling.
NO • Replace the developer.
