TROUBLESHOOTING
Problem
Reel speed too fast
Reel fingers not
aggressive enough
Reel too low
Relief valve on windrower
has low relief pressure
setting
Low oil reservoir level on
windrower
NOTE:
Sometimes more than
one reservoir.
Relief valve malfunction
Cutting tough crops with
standard torque (19-tooth)
reel drive sprocket
Insufficient reel to
cutterbar clearance
Reel digging into ground
with reel speed slower
than ground speed
Reel digging into ground
with reel speed faster than
ground speed
Excessive plugging at
cutterbar with wads of crop
accumulating at cutterbar
while maintaining reel
operation
Solution
Reduce reel speed.
Move to a more
aggressive finger pitch
notch.
Raise reel.
Increase relief pressure
to manufacturer's
recommendations.
Fill to proper level.
Replace relief valve.
Replace with high torque
(10-tooth) or 14-tooth reel
drive sprocket.
Increase clearance.
Raise header.
Decrease header tilt.
Move reel aft.
Raise header.
Decrease header tilt.
Move reel aft.
Correct plugging/cutting
issues.
Stop reel before plugging
becomes excessive.
