6.8.2 Reel Frown

The reel has been adjusted at the factory to provide more clearance at the center of the reel than at the ends ('frown')
to compensate for reel flexing.

Adjusting Reel Frown

The frown is adjusted by repositioning the hardware connecting the reel finger tube arms to the reel discs.
To adjust the reel frown, follow these steps:
NOTE:
The frown profile should be measured prior to reel disassembly for servicing so that the profile can be maintained
after reassembly.
1. Position the reel over the cutterbar (between '4' and
'5' on the gauge). This position provides adequate
clearance at all reel fore-aft positions.
2. Record a measurement at each reel disc location for
each reel tube.
