IP Address Setting

An IP address of the SECS/GEM communication software pre-installed model module can be changed using the setting tool.
The IP address can also be changed by storing the address in the register of a programmable controller CPU and using the
ladder program which uses the register.
An Ethernet port, which is not subject to change using this function, operates with an IP address set in the Setting/monitoring
tools for the C Controller module, GX Works3, or CW Configurator.
When changing an IP address using this function, the IP address will be changed to one set at the last time. To change the IP
address of multiple channels, change them at once.
Note that changes in the IP address of the SECS/GEM communication software pre-installed model module by this function
are available only when the SECS/GEM communication software is running.
This section shows the procedure to configure the IP address.
Operating procedure

Configure the IP address using one of the following methods.

Reset the SECS/GEM communication software pre-installed model module.
The IP address is changed after the reset. (An event is registered to the event history of the Setting/monitoring tools for the C
Controller module or GX Works3. )
When changing an IP address using the IP address setting function, parameters are changed during the start
of a module.
Therefore, a SECS/GEM communication software pre-installed model module may not be connected while
the parameter change is in progress.
To change the IP address of the SECS/GEM communication software pre-installed model module, it is
recommended to use Setting/monitoring tools for the C Controller module, GX Works3, or CW Configurator.
Precautions
■Change of the IP address
Before changing an IP address, check the address carefully. If the changed IP address is forgotten, disable the change of the
IP address by referring to the following:

Do not change the IP address of an Ethernet port which is not enabled.
■Application of settings
The IP address is not changed during system operation. Always perform a reset to change the IP address.
■Reset
Before performing a reset, make sure that the CIM control ready relay is ON.
In addition, for changing the IP address of MELSEC-Q series SECS/GEM communication software pre-installed model
module, the module must be reset twice.
