Restrictions for setting the number of points (the number of words)
The SECS/GEM communication software has CA-SECS work areas.
A CA-SECS work area is an area for saving CA-SECS device assignment (I/O assignment) settings.
CA-SECS work areas are consumed by adding CA-SECS device assignment (I/O assignment) settings.
Settings that exceed the number of CA-SECS work areas will be invalid.
Set CA-SECS device assignment (I/O assignment) settings within the CA-SECS work area range.

The following shows the correspondence between the number of points (the number of words) for the CA-SECS device
assignment (I/O assignment) and the number of consumed CA-SECS work areas.
• Bit device: One CA-SECS work area is consumed per 16 words.
• Word device: One CA-SECS work area is consumed regardless of the number of device points (the number of words).
The following table shows images of CA-SECS work areas to be used when setting CA-SECS device assignment (I/O
assignment).
