VLANs and Security Profiles

The AP-7 allows you to segment wireless networks into multiple sub-networks based on
Network Name (SSID) and VLAN membership. A Network Name (SSID) identifies a wireless
network. Clients associate with Access Points that share an SSID. During installation, the Setup
Wizard prompts you to configure a Primary Network Name for each wireless interface.
After initial setup and once VLAN is enabled, the AP can be configured to support up to 16
SSIDs per wireless interface to segment wireless networks based on VLAN membership.
Each VLAN can associated to a Security Profile and RADIUS Server Profiles. A Security Profile
defines the allowed wireless clients, and authentication and encryption types. See
Security Profiles

VLAN Configuration

Each SSID/VLAN can have its own Security Profile that defines its security mode,
authentication mechanism, and encryption, so that customers can have multiple types of clients
(non-WEP, WEP, 802.1x, WPA) on the same system, but separated per VLAN. See
Profiles
on page 141 for more information.
Adding or Modifying a VLAN
To add or modify a VLAN:
1. Click the Wireless Interface subtab.
This tab allows you to select the index of the SSID/VLAN to be added or edited. The add/
page allows you to configure the RADIUS Authentication Status, the MAC ACL Status, the
Security Profile for the VLAN, the RADIUS Server Profiles, and gives you the option to
enable or disable RADIUS accounting and SSID authorization in the VLAN.
2. Click Add to configure additional SSIDs, VLANs, and their associated security profiles and
RADIUS server profiles, or select the VLAN/SSID and click Edit to modify an existing VLAN/
SSID. See
on page 139 for configuration details.
