Follow this procedure to load a cartridge into the 1/2 inch
cartridge tape drive.
1. Hold the cartridge with the smooth side on top and the
leader block toward the drive.

2. Insert the cartridge into the entry slot, and slide it all the way
into the drive opening until it stops.
CAUTION: When you insert a cartridge, never force it.

After about 15 seconds, the tape drive completes the loading
process and the message display reads "ON LINE." The
message display also shows whether the cartridge is file-
protected (F) or unprotected (U).
