Z-Max Application Software

The Z-Max System includes both field application software and office software. Each
component is discussed below.

Field Application Software

The field application software resides in the handheld computer/data collector. As with
the handheld computer, this is an optional component to the Z-Max System for post-
processing. The field application software offers an enhanced interface to the Z-Max
receiver, supporting additional status information and operational capabilities not
available through the Front Panel User Interface of the receiver.
FAST Survey
FAST stands for Field Application Software Technology. FAST Survey was designed
specifically for land surveying with the Z-Max system. The software guides you
through the steps required to perform surveys using both post-processed and real-
time data collection methods. FAST Survey is a graphical Microsoft Windows software
based on the Microsoft Pocket PC operating system. FAST Survey can be used for a
full range of land surveying operations including, topography and construction. FAST
software can control the Z-Max GPS receiver and conventional instruments with the
same intuitive user interface. For more detailed information on use of FAST Survey

Office Software

GPS surveying requires a certain level of preparation and also post-analysis after
data is collected. With post-processed GPS surveying, data is first collected in the
field and then must be processed in the office to generate results. With real-time GPS
surveying, office software is useful for preparing stakeout files and then for QA
analysis of the collected data. Office software is a critical part of the system whether
the system is for post-processing or real-time GPS surveying. Office software enables
planning, execution, analysis and reporting in a variety of GPS survey scenarios.
Office software enables other valuable functionality including; transfer of data to and
from devices, conversion of data formats, creation of maps and sending text-based
(advanced) commands to the Z-Max.
Thales Navigation GNSS Studio
The office software for the Z-Max System is Thales Navigation's GNSS Studio. GNSS
Studio includes all functionality required to support processing, manipulation and
