COMPONENT MAINTENANCE MANUAL C17004 (b) Signal processing This function is designed to make the signals received usable by the central processing unit. The signal is processed on PCBs Z3 and Z4. The HF PCB, Z4, pre-processes the signal. The CPU PCB, Z3, processes the signal. On the Z4 PCB, the Asic T100 performs common pre-processing of the GPS signals.
Page 43
COMPONENT MAINTENANCE MANUAL C17004 (3) Operating modes The RPU has various operating modes, the procedure and sequencing of which are defined by the software program, according to the state of the RPU, the number of satellites received, the presence (or absence) and the state of certain parameters.
Page 44
COMPONENT MAINTENANCE MANUAL C17004 (d) Clock warm-up mode If thermal stabilization of the RPU internal clock has not been at- tained by the end of the Initialization mode (acquisition is not yet possible), the RPU is set to the clock warm-up mode; the position, speed and the time are maintained by available external aids.
Page 45
COMPONENT MAINTENANCE MANUAL C17004 1 3D+T mode (5 to 8 satellites usable) This mode (3 dimensions with time) is the preferred operating mode of the RPU. It provides the functions generally available in the 3D+T mode; moreover, the use of a fifth satellite adds dual redundancy to PVT (speed time position) processing, which makes it possible to check measurement consistency.
Page 46
COMPONENT MAINTENANCE MANUAL C17004 4 2D+T mode ( 3 satellites usable in the medium and short term). This mode is used if the 3D+T (5 satellites), 3D+T or 3D modes cannot be activated, under the following conditions: - Geometry of these satellites enabling activation of the 2D+T mode (specific geometric criteria of the mode), - Availability of an altitude and altitude rate aid (if these con- ditions are satisfied, the RPU goes into the DR mode).

COMPONENT MAINTENANCE MANUAL C17004 (7) AGC Loop The automatic gain control (AGC) is designed to slave the amplitude of the A/D converter input signal to a programmable instruction. An AGC (DAC 0/11) digital signal is generated by the Asic T100 circuit. It is applied to the input of a digital/analog converter;...
