Downloading the Handheld Computer Data

There are two ways to download data from the handheld data collector to the PC. You
can either wirelessly download data using the Bluetooth module, or download data
with a serial cable. Both of these processes will use the SurvCom utility of the GNSS
Studio software download files.
Downloading FAST Survey Data Using Serial Cable
To download data from the handheld data collector to the PC using a cable,
connect the data collector cable from the handheld computer to the PC serial port
and perform the following steps:
1. If Active Sync (on PC) is in use, turn it off (disabled).
2. Verify the data collector is turned on.
3. On data collector, go to File/Data Transfer function and choose SurvCADD/
Carlson Survey Transfer button.
4. From the PC, run GNSS Studio software.
5. If a GNSS Studio project has not already been created, create a project. This
project should be open.
6. From the Project menu, select 'Download Data from External Device'.
7. Select 'Real-time results' from the list on the left. This will open the CE
Download utility and the CE Download main window appears. The right pane
of the main window is the source directory from the data collector (currently
blank) and the left pane is the currently selected PC destination directory.
8. From the File menu, select 'Connect'-'Data Collector'-'Connect via Serial'
9. If the communication parameters are set correctly, CE Download will display
the data files on the data collector in the right pane.
10. In the left (destination) pane of the CE Download main window, use the Set
Path button to change the destination directory to either the project directory
or the directory where you want the data files to be stored.
11. To select data collector files to download, highlight the desired data files. Click
the Transfer button to start data downloading.
12. The selected files will be downloaded into the selected destination directory.
A progress dialog box indicates the status of the download. Note that the files
on the data collector will not be erased after download is complete.
