Fuel Tank Removal
Yanmar Diesel Engine: Service and Repairs
Drain and clean the fuel tank periodically as recommended in the Operator's
Manual. Also, drain and clean the fuel tank if the fuel system becomes
contaminated or if the machine is to be stored for an extended period.
To clean fuel tank, flush tank out with clean diesel fuel. Make sure tank is free
of contaminates and debris.
Check fuel lines and connections periodically as recommended in the Operator's
Manual. Check lines for deterioration, damage, leaks or loose connections.
Replace hoses, clamps and connections as necessary.
The fuel system needs to be primed before starting the engine for the first time,
after running out of fuel or after fuel system maintenance (e.g. draining the
filter/water separator, replacing a fuel hose). To prime the fuel system, make sure
that the fuel tank has fuel in it. Then, turn the ignition key to the ON position for
10 to 15 seconds which allows the fuel pump to prime the fuel system. DO NOT
use the engine starter motor to crank the engine in order to prime the fuel system.
