Procedure for Piston (Traction) Pump Flow Test
Hydraulic System: Testing
Prevent personal injury and/or damage to equipment. Read all
WARNINGS, CAUTIONS and Precautions for Hydraulic Testing at the
beginning of this section.
1. Park machine on a level surface, raise and lock the cutting decks, disengage
PTO, engage parking brake and stop engine. Remove key from key switch.
Make sure hydraulic oil is at normal operating temperature (54 to 66 ºC (130
to 150 ºF)).
All wheels will be off the ground and rotating during this test. Make
sure machine is supported so it will not move and accidentally fall to
prevent injuring anyone near the machine.
2. Raise and support machine so all wheels are off the ground (see

3. Thoroughly clean junction of hydraulic hose from piston pump A port and 90º
fitting in the P1 port on side of traction manifold which is attached to the
bottom of the front axle frame
When tester is installed, make sure that the oil flow indicator arrow
on the flow gauge is showing that oil will flow from the disconnected
hydraulic hose, through the tester and into the traction manifold
fitting.
