G. If the test voltage is below the minimum voltage shown in the chart,
replace the battery. If the test voltage is at or above the minimum, return
the battery to service.
To minimize possible damage to the battery and to allow the battery to be fully
charged, the slow charging method is presented here. This charging method
can be accomplished with a constant current battery charger which is readily
available.
Follow the battery charger manufacturer's instructions when using
a battery charger.
1. Disconnect the battery cables from the battery being charged before charging
(see
Battery Removal (page 6–140)
2. Determine the battery charge level from its open circuit voltage.
