22. Front output shaft snap ring (15) to the front output
shaft (16) (figure 10).
23. Synchronizer assembly (12) and mode shift fork
(13) aligning the synchronizer assembly to the
mainshaft drive gear (18) and the mode fork to the
shift rail (9).
24. Synchronizer hub (55) to the synchronizer assem­
bly (12).
25. Clutch coil housing (11) and clutch coil housing
snap ring (10) to the mainshaft (23).
26. Shift rail spring (8) to the shift rail (9).
27. Clutch coil (7) to the rear case (46).
28. Clutch coil nuts (6) to the clutch coil (7).
Tighten
$
• Clutch coil nuts (6) to 10 N.m (84 lbs. in.).
29. Clutch coil wire through the rear case and clutch
coil wire connector (5) to the clutch coil wire.
30. RTV sealer (GM P/N 1052366) to the pump body
sealing surfaces and the front and rear case
halves.
31. Case screws (61) to the case halves.
Tighten
• Case screws (62) to 41 N.m (30 lbs. ft.).

32. A new speedometer tone wheel (1) to the main­
shaft (23) using J 5590.

1. RTV sealer (GM P/N 1052366) to the rear bearing
retainer (50) sealing surfaces.
2. Rear bearing retainer bolts (61) to the rear case
(46).

Tighten
• Bolts (61) to 41 N.m (30 lbs. ft.).
3. Four-wheel drive indicator switch (60) to the front
case half (31).
Tighten
• Switch to 41 N-m (30 lbs. ft.).
4. Speed sensor (59) and bolt to the rear bearing
retainer (50).
Tighten
&
• Bolt to 16 N.m (12 lbs. ft.).
5. Rear output yoke (79), rubber sealing washer (57),
flat washer (56), and the rear output yoke nut (75)
to the rear output shaft (figure 28).
Tighten
• Nut (75) to 170 N.m (125 ft. lbs.).
6. Front output flange (58), rubber sealing washer
(57), flat washer (56), and the front output flange
nut (76) to the front output shaft.
Tighten
• Nut (76) to 224 N.m (165 lbs. ft.).
