NOTICE: The inertial w eight section o f the
torsional damper is assem bled to the hub
with rubber type material. The correct instal
lation procedures (with the proper tool) m ust
be follow ed or m ovem ent o f the inertial
w eight section o f the hub will d estro y the
tuning of the torsional damper.
2. Stud (item A, figure 43) to the crankshaft. Thread
the stud fully into the tapped hole in the crankshaft.
3. Torsional damper over the end of the stud. Align
the keyway in the torsional damper shaft with the
crankshaft key.
4. Bearing, washer, and nut (figure 39).
A. Turn the nut to pull the vibration damper into
place.
B. Remove the tool.

5. Torsional damper bolt and washer.

ROD INSTALLATION
CONNECTING ROD BEARING SELECTION
Connecting rod bearings are of the precision insert
type and do not use shims for adjustment. DO NOT
FILE RODS OR ROD CAPS. If clearances are exces
sive, install a new bearing. Service bearings are avail
able in standard size and 0.0014-mm undersize for use
with new and used standard size crankshafts.
Install or Connect (Figures 44 through 46)
Tools Required:
J 5239 Connecting Rod Guide Set
J 8037 Ring Compressor
J 36660 Torque/Angle Meter
Lubricate the cylinder walls lightly with engine oil.
Make sure the piston is installed in the matching
cylinder.
