Tighten
• Attaching screws to 3-7 N*m (27-62 lbs. in.).
5. Tighten " T " handle of tool to push seal into
bore. Continue until tool collar is flush against
block.
6. Loosen " T " handle
attaching screws and tool.
• Check to be sure seal is seated squarely in
bore.

CAMSHAFT INSTALLATION

I++I Install or Connect
• Coat camshaft lobes and bearings with GM
E.O.S. P/N 1051396 or equivalent. Insert
camshaft with extreme care to avoid personal
injury and gouging of the camshaft bearings.
NOTICE:
Refer to " Notice" on page 6A2-1.
1. Camshaft and thrust plate.
S t Tighten
• Thrust plate bolts to 12 N*m (106 lbs. in.).
Important
• If a new camshaft is installed, replace all valve
lifters. Valve lifters may be oversize, verify
marking (10) on the lifter boss.

• Old thread adhesive must be thoroughly
removed from the flywheel bolts and bolt
holes.
NOTICE:
Refer to " Notice" on page 6A2-1.
1. Apply Loctite® 271 GM P/N 1052624, or
equivalent to all flywheel bolts.
• Carefully follow the instructions included with
the thread locking compound to ensure proper
bolt retention.
2. Flywheel, retainer (automatic transmission), and
bolts.
• Flywheel bolts to 75 N*m (55 lbs. ft.) with

automatic transmission.

• Flywheel bolts to 75 N*m (55 lbs. ft.) with
manual transmission.
3. Manual transmission clutch and pressure plate.
