2. Cylinder head. Make sure the gasket surfaces are
clean. Guide the head carefully into place over the
dowel pins.

3. Head bolts.
A. Make sure the bolt threads are clean.
B. Apply sealant (GM P/N 1052080) or equivalent
to the bolt threads and under the bolt heads.

Tighten
A. Head bolts.
B. Using the sequence shown in figure 77,
tighten all bolts to 25 N-m (20 lbs. ft.).
C. In sequence, tighten all bolts to 65 N-rn (50
lbs. ft.).
D. In sequence, tighten all bolts an additional
90 degrees (1/4 turn).
