. Oil pump to main bearing cap bolt.
Tighten
• Bolt to 90 N-m (65 lbs. ft.).

OIL PAN INSTALLATION

5.0L AND 5.7L ENGINES

Install or Connect (Figures 83 and 84)
• Apply PST sealer (GM P/N 1052080 or equivalent)
to the front cover to block joint and crankshaft rear
seal retainer to block joint.

. Oil pan gasket (74) to the oil pan (71).

. Oil pan (71) to the engine.
3
. Oil pan bolts (72), nuts (73), and reinforcements
(75).

75. Reinforcement

Tighten
• Oil pan bolts (72) to 11 N-m (100 lbs. in.).
• Oil pan nuts (73) to 22 N-m (200 lbs. in.).
7.4L ENGINES

Install or Connect (Figure 85)
• Apply PST sealer (GM P/N 1052080 or equivalent)
in four places where the front and rear main bear­
ing caps meet the engine block as shown in figure
85.

. Gasket (74) to the block.
2. Oil pan (76). Make sure the gasket stays in place.

3. Bolts (75).
• Bolts to 18 N-m (160 lbs. in.).

CYLINDER HEAD INSTALLATION

Clean
Gasket surfaces on block and cylinder head.

Install or Connect (Figures 86 through 91)
1. Head gasket.

• Use no sealer on engines using a composition
gasket.
