Retaining Ring
6. R em ove any excess oil resulting from installing the new
seal parts from the shaft and inside the com pressor neck.
7. Install the clutch plate and hub assem bly as described in
m inor repair procedures.
8. Reinstall the com pressor, belt and tighten bracket.
9. E vacuate and charge the refrigerant system.
COMPRESSOR PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE
Remove or Disconnect
1. R ecover refrigerant.
2. R em ove old pressure relief valve (Fig. 21).

<■ Install or Connect
1. L ubricate O -ring o f new pressure relief valve and O-ring
assem bly w ith new 525 viscosity refrigerant oil. Install
new valve and torque in place, 16.0 N*m (11.7 lbs.ft.).
2. E vacuate and recharge the system.
3. L eak test system .
COMPRESSOR CONTROL SWITCHES
Remove or Disconnect
R ecover refrigerant.

2 D isconnect the electrical connector from the sw itch in
the rear head o f the com pressor (Fig. 21).
3. R em ove the sw itch retaining ring (Fig. 21), using
J 5403 internal snap ring pliers.
4. R em ove switch from com pressor.
5. R em ove old O -ring seal from sw itch cavity using
J 9 5 5 3-01 O -ring rem oval tool or equivalent.
NOTICE:
If existing sw itch will be reinstalled in
com pressor, a new O-ring seal m ust be used and
preferably a new retainer ring should also be used. A new
sw itch kit has the O -ring and retainer ring included.
Install or Connect
C heck sw itch cavity and O-ring groove in the rear head
for dirt or foreign m aterial and clean as necessary. Install
new O -ring coated with clean refrigerant oil into groove
in sw itch cavity.
2 . L ubricate the sw itch housing with clean refrigerant oil
and carefully insert switch into sw itch cavity until switch
bottom s in cavity.
