3. Deflector ring.
• Position and square up the sensor ring (19) at
the press diameter of the outer race (18).
• Using a 76-mm (3-inch) pipe coupling (K1-K2)
or 102-mm (4-inch) pipe coupling (K3), M24 x
2.0 nut, and fabricated sheet metal sleeve,
tighten nut until sensor (19) bottoms against
shoulder of C/V outer race (18) (figure 32).

Remove or Disconnect (Figures 30 and 34)
Tools Required:
J 8059 Snap Ring Pliers
J 35910 Seal Clamp Tool
J 37652 Swage Clamp Tool
1. Large swage ring (9) from C/V joint, using a chisel,
and discard.
Important
• Do not cut through seal (13) and damage seal­
ing surface of C/V outer housing (18) with the
chisel.
2. Small seal-retaining clamp (11) on axle shaft with
side cutter, and discard.
3. Separate joint seal (13) from C/V joint race (18) at
large diameter, and slide seal away from joint along
axle shaft (12).
4. Wipe excess grease from face of C/V inner race
(16).
5. Spread ears on race retaining ring (14) with J 8059
as shown and remove C/V joint assembly from axle
shaft.
6. Seal (13) from axle shaft (figure 34).
7. Disassemble joint, and flush grease before install­
ing new seal. See " Outer Joint Assembly."
