Notice: The connecting rod and cap need to
be stored together as mating parts, so they
may be reassembled in the sam e position
from which they were removed.
Refer to SECTION 6A and perform the following:
• Disassembly.
• Cleaning.
• Inspection.
• Measuring.
— Piston pin diameter and clearance.
— Piston to bore clearance and fit of pistons.
— Ring end gap and ring clearances.
— Ring fit.

Clean
• Old pieces of gasket from the gasket surfaces.
• Excessive carbon buildup in the exhaust passages
of the intake manifold.
• Scale and deposits from the coolant passages of
the intake manifold.
• EGR passage of excessive carbon deposits.
