1.
Place the clutch coil assem bly on the neck o f the front
head with clutch coil term inals in line w ith m ark
described in Step 2 o f the rem oval procedure.
2.
Place the pulley rotor and bearing assem bly on the neck
of the front head and seat the clutch coil and pulley rotor
in place using Rotor and Bearing Installer J 26271- A
(Fig. 13).
Before fully seating the assem bly on the front head, be
sure the clutch coil term inals are in proper location in
relation to the com pressor and that the three protrusions
on the rear of the clutch coil housing align with the
locater holes in the front head.
3.
Install the pulley-rotor and bearing assem bly retaining
ring and reassem ble the clutch plate and hub assem bly as
described in "Clutch Plate and Hub A ssem bly-R eplace" .
4.
Check to see that the clutch plate to clutch rotor air gap is
0.5-7.6m m (.0 2 0 -.0 3 0 ").
MAJOR REPAIR PROCEDURES
Service repair procedures to the C om pressor Shaft

EVACUATED AND R E C H A R G ED to com plete service.
W hen replacing the shaft seal assem bly or pressure relief
valve (Fig. 2), even if the com pressor rem ains on the vehicle
during the operation, it will be necessary to recover refrigerant.
Other than clutch repair procedures, the same holds true for any
disassembly of the compressor.
A clean workbench, preferably covered with a sheet o f
clean paper, orderliness in the work area and a place for all parts
being removed and replaced is of great im portance, as is the use
of the proper, clean service tools.
NOTICE:
inadequate equipm ent may result in dam age and/or
improper com pressor operation.
All parts required for servicing the internal com pressor
are protected by a preservation process and packaged in a
manner which will elim inate the necessity o f cleaning,
washing or flushing of the parts. The parts can be used in the

internal assembly just as they are rem oved from the service
package. Seals and protective packaging should be left intact
until ju st prior to installation.
