Models 707B and 708B Switching Matrix Reference Manual
You can use scans to perform a user-specified sequence of close and open operations on multiple
channels. Refer to
Close and open channel operations and commands
When you turn on the Model 707B or 708B, relays for all switch cards in the instrument are opened.
When you close channels, you have the option to do an exclusive close for the channel or slot. An
exclusive channel close closes the selected channel and opens any other channels that are closed.
You can also choose an exclusive slot close, which closes the selected channel and opens any other
channels that are closed on the same slot as the selected channel. With an exclusive slot close, any
channels that are closed on other slots remain closed.
You can use the front panel CLOSE and OPEN keys to open and close channels.
To close or open a channel from the front panel:
1. Display a channel (you might need to press DISPLAY).
2. Use the navigation wheel

Open the channel: Press OPEN.
Close a channel without affecting any other channels: Select CLOSE.
Close a channel and open any other closed channels on the instrument: Select CHAN and select
EXCLOSE. Press ENTER to open or close the channels.
Close a channel and open any other closed channels on the slot that contains the selected channel:
Select CHAN and select EXSLOTCLOSE. Press ENTER to open or close the channels.
To close or open a channel from the web interface:
1. From the list on the left, select the slot that contains the channel you want to open or close.
2. If you are closing a channel, from the Channel Action Type list in the upper left, select the type of
close.
3. Right-click the channel you want to open or close. If the channel is closed, it opens; if it is open, it
closes.
