The architecture first level consists of two redundant first level controller (FLC) processors, located on
daughter boards resident on the "Equipment Controller" boards (EC320).
The task of the EC320 boards consists of acting as controller of the second level processors, performing
centralized management of NE resources and acting as interfaces to management systems.
First Level Controllers implement the following functionalities:
• Interfaces toward the network management. More specifically, Q3 Agent,TL1 Agent, SNMP
Agent, MTNM Agent (limited to the configuration of the GMPLS functionality) and CLI
• Information base comprising all the static data needed to manage the network element.
• Interface toward Second level controller Processors and Local Data Controller processors.
• The functions associated to the management plane (communication with managers) and to the
MPLS and GMPLS control planes including the implementation of protocols and routing
engines.
• EPS of the First Level Controllers. (for instance: maintain the alignment of data stored on Hard
Disks, decide which is the active FLC at startup etc.)
