3.9.1 Main battery (-48V / -60V) power distribution

The redundant connection voltages provided by TRU at the subrack interface I2 are connect to the shelf
PSF card.
The solution presented for PSF is specifically designed for the 1850 TSS-320 node and foresees:
Input filter to reduce the spurious frequencies produced from the DC/DC converters inside the
equipment
After, the filter battery wires (positive and negative) are split in point to multipoint configuration
towards the tributary boards;
For every battery line connected towards the boards a fuse is inserted (fuse F1 in Figure 89. on page
144) to protect the others connection battery line when one connection goes to the fault status
For every connection line towards the boards the presence of the battery is monitored to identify a
fault at board level
The two -48V/-60V backpanel power rails are combined using sharing diodes on each card; under normal
operating conditions each unit selects the highest voltage in order to keep balanced the load on the two
power supply inputs.
Being the architecture of the power subsystem distributed, each card is in charge of deriving the specific
voltage levels it needs from the -48V/-60V power rails using dedicated on board DC/DC converters.
