Beside each line is able to monitor its own fuses and the relative alarm is managed by "Battery alarms
management block".

4.3.4 Card missing

It points out the presence of any board (GND contact)

4.3.5 By-pass for Access battery

It delivers the input battery to the Access boards by means a female sub D connector suited on the upper
part of backpanel shelf (refer to Figure 16. on page 44)

4.3.6 Power monitoring

This block is able to monitor the input voltage and the input current in order to check the input power.

4.3.7 2Mbit/s 2 MHz Sync. terminations

Two external reference signals are provided at 2.048 MHz or 2.048 Mb/s. Function performed:
the unit can receives up to one 2 MHz clock (T3) or up to one 2Mbit/s signals (T6) that could be used
to synchronize the N.E. The unit provide software programmability to switch between the two mode.
the unit provides up to one 2 MHz clock (T4) or up to one 2Mbit/s signals (T5) that can be used by
another N.E. for synchronism purpose. The unit provide software programmability to switch between
the two mode.
The correspondent physical interfaces are located on the front panel of the POW320_A and POW320_B
units, guaranteeing in this way the required redundancy of this functionality(T3a, T3b or T6a, T6b /
T4a,T4b or T5a,T5b).
In the 1850 TSS-320 equipment, the physical accesses and terminations of the synchronization signals
are implemented on the POW320_A and POW320_B units, while the frame processing (significant in case
of E1) with SSM management is realized on the MATRIX units (MT320).

4.3.8 Input power stage for DC/DC converter

This block is able to guarantee a start-up and an inrush current limiting system in order to provide
controlled charge-up for the input hold-up capacitor and therefore prevent a current surge at the input to
the module when the board is plugged in;

4.3.9 DC/DC converters

On the unit there are two DC/DC converters that supply the following two voltage:
3.6V is the service voltage for all the boards of the system.
5.3V is the voltage for WDM boards.
Besides in order to supply the internal circuit of the board a step-down 3.3V/5A is connected on the output
of the 5.3V/10A DC/DC converter.
The output of the step-down is used in double with the equivalent of the POW320 B.
