3 FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
3.1 General description
Figure 25. illustrates in block diagram form the units types employed in 1850 TSS-320 and the general
operating functions.

"EC320" card
The unit provides the following functionality:

First Level Controller(FLC) + HD (Hard Disk) function
–
DBG interface is available to support application SW debug activities.
–
F interface allows the connection to a local craft terminal for Operation and Maintenance activity.
–
HUSB interface is available to connect external USB v2.0 slave devices such as "disk-on-key" or
similar devices.

LED Interface
–
Rack Lamp interface
–
Housekeeping interface
–
remote alarm status reporting parallel output signals
–
LAN Interface
–
EPS Interface
–
Qecc Interface carrying data related to the Data Communication Channels mapped in the OH
section of the SDH frame.

UNIVERSAL MATRIX (TSS-320) card "MT320"
The unit provides the following functionality:
–
Matrix that performs HPC, LPC and protection functions; LPC is not available in current release
–
Synchronization functions
–
Shelf Controller (SC) function
Note: in the following figure and in general in the whole Technical Handbook, the UNIVERSAL
MATRIX board is subdivided in two blocks called "TDM" and "Packet"; this is only a "logical
"subdivision but not a physical one.
