5.4.1 Power consumption

The Alcatel 1850 TSS-320 is designed for low power consumption. Developing new components with very
high integration density and low voltage supply leads to a significant reduction of power consumption.
Depending on the number and type of I/O ports the power consumption may vary in a wide range.
Some configurations are provided below:
• MSPP configuration = 1600 W
– 2 Equico (1+1)
– 2 Matrices 160Gb/s (1+1)
– 10 STM-64 I/O (ten 1xSTM-64 ports) B&W
– 10 STM-16 I/O (three 4xSTM-16 ports) B&W
– 24 STM-1 I/O (three 8xSTM-1 ports) B&W
– 2 X 20G PACKET PROCESSOR equipped w/ 1 PIM MS ed 10x1GEth each (in 50% of
the cases) or 2 X 20G PACKET PROCESSOR w/ 1 PIM MS and 1x10GEth each (in the
other 50% of the cases) always B&W optically equipped.
• Pure Packet configuration = 1730 W
– 2 Equico (1+1)
– 2 Matrices 160Gb/s (1+1)
– 6 16XGE PACKET MODULE B&W
– 2 X 20G PACKET PROCESSORs equipped w/ 3 PIM 1x10GEth in total (in 50% of the
cases) or 2 X 20G PACKET PROCESSOR equipped w/ 3 PIM 10x1GEth in total (in the
other 50% of the cases) always B&W optically equipped.
